Warsaw Old Town

I think when I was younger I didn't appreciate Warsaw as it deserves it, or maybe the city changed a lot since I lived there. After seeing many old towns, I started to appreciate the Old Town of Warsaw. I am not saying it is any better or worse... I am just saying that it is extremely nice to walk from Charles De Gaulle Roundabout (that one with the fake palm tree in the center of Warsaw), along the Nowy Świat (New World Street) and Krakowskie Przedmieście (literally: Krakow Suburb), passing the buildings of the Warsaw University, strolling towards Plac Zamkowy (Castle Square) and its rebuilt tenement houses.

Below some pictures from my Warsaw Old Town stroll

The Old Town runs along: ul. Celna, ul. Jezuicka, ul. Kamienne Schodki, ul. Krzywe Koło, ul. Nowomiejska, ul. Wąski Dunaj, ul. Zapiecek and ul. Świętojańska. The best time to go there if you want to avoid too many people is on one of the weekdays, out of season. During the weekends, and especially during the summer you will encounter a lot of tourists. Well, fair enough - it is a touristic place. Although, as it seems, the people of Warsaw appreciate more and more strolling around the Krzywe Koło (literally: Crooked Wheel) and Kamienne Schodki (literally: the Stone Stairs) area and eating gofres with whipped cream from one of the food stalls.
